Im new to Manjaro and would like to set up my sound card. I got the Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty Professional 3D. This one got a link for speakers and an extra link for headphones. In Windows i had a software where i could change between speakers and headphones. Looks like this:
How can I switch between headphones and speakers in Manjaro like this? The sound settings tell me that headphones are disconnected, so I cant switch to them.
thank you for your reply! I dont know if my hardware supports this. I got my speakers and headphones connected parallel. I just want to switch between them like i did in windows.
I got a legacy installation.
If its from interest: I got a Y-Cable conntected to the soundcard (one plug from my headphones goes to a microphone and to a headphones plug). Looks like this:
Could you provide the output to aplay --list-devices and please enclose the output in 3 backticks ``` at the start and end so the output looks like this:
[@ fabby - I was on a coffee break pondering this discussion so far
now on 2nd cup in case of possible strangeness from Creative device ]
Pulseaudio should handle switching between headphones and speakers
but Pulseaudio will not switch to an output that is detected as ‘unplugged’ or ‘not available’
If an audio device is not correctly detecting headphones being plugged in, it would usually require a change in ALSA configuration of hardware device to get Pulseaudio to work as intended
please post response to
amixer --card=1
hoping to see a control for Auto Mute-Mode on this audio device
this card is using standard snd_hda_intel and not a specific Creative driver, so the tools for onboard HDA hardware should work
suggest installing alsa-tools package (assuming it is not already installed)
and check if headphone jack is correctly detected
I have removed and installed the soundcard and now i get sound again.
I got the headphones working over front, but the microphone doesnt work. Maybe the microphone front connection of my PC is dead? The problem is, that it doesnt detect headphones when i connect them directly to the soundcard. Maybe because of the missing Creative driver?
hdajacksensetest: No pins found for card 1 codec 0, did you pick the right one?

amixer --card=1 response confirms this is the Creative card
(as far as I know only Creative has a control called `What U Hear’, i think they have a trademark for this)
the controls for jack-detection in amixer are not like other HDA audio devices
so I am not too surprised that hdajacksensetest does not work
HP/Speaker Auto Detect is [on] so headphones should work for audio playback
but controls for audio capture are turned off
suggest you go to
alsamixer --card=1 --view All
use arrow keys →← to locate these two controls
AMic1/DMic
AMic1/DMic Auto Detect
and either ↓ or ↑ or Spacebar to turn both controls ON
to capture audio
also suggest turn OFF these audio effects until audio capture and playback is working
(may need to use M key to mute and unmute playback controls)
Crystalizer
Dialog Plus
Equalizer
Noise Reduction
PlayEnhancement
Smart Volume
Voice Focus
X-Bass
and save any changes made to ALSA controls so they are restored when booting system
Even if i conntected headphones at my soundcard and autodetect is on, it says, they were not connected. At the Front just headphones are working. Enabling AMic1/Dmic, AMic1/DMic Auto Detect and disabling the others didnt change anything.
