also I have tried the proposals of @nikgnomic from this post Audio Devices Not Showing in Manjaro - Seeking Assistance - #2 by Olli without success:

systemctl --user restart pulseaudio                                                                                      99 ✘

and

I understand that Manjaro now uses pipewire instead of pulseaudio.

I’m unable to help with this directly, however, I suggest searching a little more with the focus being on pipewire.

When @nikgnomic next graces us with their presence, no doubt some better clarification might be provided.

In the meantime, the Arch Wiki may be helpful:

Regards.

I had a very similar issue very recently (past few weeks), fixed by switching to Pipewire (I’d already switched over on the other machine a while back).

sudo pacman -Syu manjaro-pipewire

You should safely be able to select Y for all the prompts for removal of the pulseaudio stuff during this process.

That did not work completely, I think…

sudo pacman -Syu manjaro-pipewire                                                                                           ✔

This was dropped over a year ago. pacdiff -o will likely reveal an interestingly long list …

Note that there is usually a link in the Update Announcement thread detailing how to deal with .pacnew files.

Then

sudo pacman -Rns pulseaudio-bluetooth
sudo pacman -Syu manjaro-pipewire

Please prefix your commands with LC_ALL=C to ensure the output is in English;

for example:

LC_ALL=C sudo pacman -Syu

The community repo hasn’t existed for over a year. This indicates that you likely have not attended to *.pacnew files as required.

Please see the heading Pacnew and Pacsave files in

for a brief introduction to the concept, and research as much as possible about pacnew files. Open a new topic if needed to seek more information.

Regards.

Here is the pacdiff list (had to install pacdiff-contrib first)

pacdiff -o                                                                                                              127 ✘
/etc/passwd.pacnew
/etc/shells.pacnew
/etc/locale.gen.pacnew
/etc/pam.d/kde.pacnew

/etc/pacman.conf.pacnew
/etc/makepkg.conf.d/rust.conf.pacnew
/etc/pacman-mirrors.conf.pacnew
/etc/pam.d/sddm.pacnew

I have to admit, that I do not have an idea what to do with that - I do not find anythin about community…

That command stil fails…

LC_ALL=C sudo pacman -Rns pulseaudio-bluetooth                                                                          INT ✘

Ah, its required by the thing we want to remove.
Suppose its ok to use Rdd then.

sudo pacman -Rdd pulseaudio-bluetooth

Looking back in the history we also strung it together like so;

Hmmm… yes - I completely missed that whole topic :frowning: I’ll try to dig into that topic and understand it before I open a new psot. But thank you very much for directing me there…

With -Rdd it worked and for now my Audio works again. Thank you guys.

Re; the community repository:

This is fairly simple in comparison to other pacnew instances:

The proposed content of /etc/pacman.conf is contained in the /etc/pacman.conf.pacnew:

  • /etc/pacman.conf currently contains the [community] section for the old community repo;
  • /etc/pacman.conf.pacnew does not.

So, in this instance pacman.conf.pacnew can be merged with /etc/pacman.conf comparatively easily.

However, many of the other .pacnew instances may need careful scrutiny; in some cases, merging the wrong content can cause severe problems.

One should usually open/view each .pacnew to see what they contain, and understand how the differences might affect your system, before committing to a merge or replace.
