Indeed, CLI text editor. That is unexpected to want to open text files by default in a terminal, on a Desktop Environment.

.desktop files are used to open GUI software. Why would CLI software have one?

While I too would not expect nano to have a desktop file, it may be worth pointing out that both micro and vim are packaged with .desktop files, and that the specification’s Terminal=true key-value pair likely exists for a reason.
