Condres OS dejavu?

This is quite clearly false.

You have copied-and-pasted wholesale from both the Manjaro website and forum without providing any attribution whatsoever.

That is plagiarism (and goes against the CC license too).

Excuse me, but what would we have copied? It seems a rather unfounded accusation. According to your deductions, what would we copy?

Oh look, you’ve taken the site down “for maintenance” so I can’t view it any more.

That’s cute but ultimately futile.

Welcome to the Linux distro community! It’s always nice to have another OS to expand GNU/Linux audience.

You’ll have to pardon some of us here. When someone tries to ‘copy’ something that works, tempers do get flared and accusations do get made.

Many thanks for posting the goals of your project. I, for one, do look forward to seeing your project grow and mature into a wonderful OS. I suspect that it is quite a challenge to accomplish your set goals as a distro. Hang in there! Your project will mature and grow into something of beauty that all of us can enjoy!

I’ve used many distros over the years, and I’ve come to the following conclusion: We are many distros in the GNU/Linux world. But when we help each other, we help our GNU/Linux reputation grow and prosper. Remember: united we stand - together we fall.

The site is not under maintenance. I am available for comparison because it helps us to grow. This is the open source spirit. If there’s something wrong, it’s good to report it, but it’s not beautiful.

OK, here’s a copy-and-paste of my Issues with "signature is marginal trust" or "invalid or corrupted package" post:

I’m not going to waste my time making screenshots of every example of your plagiarism.

You know what you have done. We know what you have done. To quote:

But you talk about a post of a year ago? but we’re joking or we’re serious. Now I ask you to insert the links that you speak of plagiarism so we rectify them, we do not want to have problems with those who speak inappropriately and without a good reason.

If the Condres is using parts of Manjaro or align with the Manjaro philosophy - then it is a head nod to Manjaro.

Manjaro must be doing something worth copying and there is no shame in admitting your source(s) of inspiration.

I got a lot of my inspiration from @archlabs @Dobbie03 and I am not ashamed of admitting the fact that they do a really good Openbox distribution.

The Manjaro Settings Manager is a very specific tool for Manjaro and that it will be very hard to get working in the environment of Condres. The tool makes too many assumptions on the environment it is running in - which packages to install etc. making the mhwd tool more or less useless on Arch derivatives which do not match the Manjaro eco-system.

@specialworld83
If is fairly obvious that you use copy-paste - even your announcements are not your own words but very close to the template @philm uses for his announcements.

For the 20 years of experience in Linux - taking your estimated age of 35 (source your website pictures and your usernames - twins both ending with 83 - fairly sure it is your year of birth) if you cannot make something truly of your own by now - but have to copy/paste other users work - I would go a little more light on advertising the experience part.

@philm is around your age - and he has certainly made something of his own.

Your experience should tell you by now - you get a lot more credit if you give the credit due.

Plagiarism is plagiarism no matter when it happens.

You copied-and-pasted my content without attribution.

That is the definition of plagiarism.

I do not allow copy-pasted content on the forum. Everything which is posted here is written/created by community members for the forum. When it uses or builds on other information it links directly to the source.

For example: Package installation says FILENAME exists in filesystem; "Failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)" builds on a post in the Arch forum which is attributed and linked to.

I apologize for what happened and I will provide to insert the link that refers to your forum. I am sorry that we had this misunderstanding that helps us grow.

Honesty is important.

Noone cares if you use Manjaro as a base for your distro as long as you say so.

As @wongs said above, Manjaro uses Arch but we make it absolutely clear what we do.

The problem comes when you take other peoples’ work and pass it off as your own - that’s dishonest and unprofessional.

I want to be clear when I do something I oppose. I am using very calm tones towards you which unfortunately I am not seeing on your part. I will do everything to ensure that even in the footer of the site you are directly mentioned as we have copied your topic and do not want to have problems in the future.

We still apologize for the mistake made by not mentioning you, unfortunately sometimes it happens, but we must not be angry because something went wrong. Dialogue is used to build when the tones on both sides are calm.

Speaking of dishonesty and lack of professionalism without knowing people is not nice, I think if they did that with you, how would you react?

Don’t try to make this about me.

It is your actions which are being criticised, not your words.

If it was true I’d think about what they were saying and change what I was doing.

This link is a completely fresh of the table review of Condres.

https://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20190304#condres

@specialworld83
Your distrowatch link could be considered clickbait and the click will only serve to artificially drive your distrowatch numbers.

For my part it is considered bad taste and bad habit to create links to one’s own distribution on distrowatch.

In fact, look now:

And footer website:

Now it seems that things are fixed, or is there something else to correct?

Do you use the Manjaro repos as a base for your OS?

If so you are based on Manjaro and that should be mentioned.

We do not use the repo of manjaro but of archlinux. Here I can not say the opposite.

I do not think being part of distrowatch is wrong. So no distros should be?

That is not what I mean. The distrowatch service is counting unique visits and thereby creating a probable popularity graph.

If you are linking directly to Condres you are driving that graph artificially - some internet users still has the opinion and accusing Manjaro for driving high numbers on distrowatch.

It is just a friendly advise that distrowatch should be left alone and clicks on and the following view of a given distro should be generated the natural way - thereby showing the actual interest in a given distro and not artificially driven by links from other websites.
