My first thought is for you to install the Nvidia proprietary driver. The open-source driver may be your problem.

I thought that might have been the problem. Do i change it in the hardware configuration thing? if not how do i do it?

In your case you will want the hybrid profile and then you can have intensive things, like gaming, run on the nvidia card instead of the little integrated intel. As with all nvidia things … it will work best with their proprietary stuff. So you are probably trying for (assuming the 470 tag in the inxi is correct) video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-470xx-prime. mhwd or Manjaro Settings Manager will provide a list of available profiles.

Once installed (and reboot) you can give it a test like this:

glxinfo | grep 'renderer string'
prime-run glxinfo | grep 'renderer string'

Now you dont want to launch steam itself with prime-run. Instead edit the game launch options like so:

prime-run %command%

i am having a hard time understanding this, (yes im a fool when it comes to this linux stuff). IS there an easier way to change to the proprietary drivers, worst case scenario i have to reinstall manjaro.

never mind this actuall wroked thank you very much for the assistance
