Can't login anymore after restart (after installing Wireshark)

Hello everybody,

I installed Wireshark some hours ago and suddenly experienced Firefox crashing constantly, so I restarted. After restart I’m greeted by GRUB (as usual) and I’m able to boot into Manjaro XFCE. I type in my password, the screen turns black for a second and I’m back at the XFCE login screen. The password is 100% correct - when I type in a wrong password on purpose I receive the respective error message stating that the password is wrong.

EDIT:
As mentioned in an additional post, I’m able to log in as root but not with my user.
I finally found a command I executed because I wasn’t able to use Wireshark before:
sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/dumpcap
Is this somethind that could be related to my login problem?

Here’s some additional info:

Thanks in advance!

Out of curiosity I tested if I could log in as root and this works.
So something with my user permissions might be wrong? Does somebody have an idea what I could try to fix this?

And here is a command I executed because I wasn’t able to use Wireshark before:
sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/dumpcap
Could this be related to my login issues?

EDIT:
Well, I “fixed” it by restoring a backup from yesterday evening.
Still I’m interested in knowing what happened here to be able to fix this properly or prevent it in the future. Thanks.

Inspecting some logs (journalctl) could have given you some hint/clue. Without further information you can’t expect other people to guess what went wrong.
