Can't install nvidia-440xx driver (GeForce GTX 970)

Hi

I recently updated and found that my drivers weren’t working anymore.
I have tried to update my drivers before where they didn’t work, so i just removed the old driver and installed the old 440xx driver through mhwd.

My problem is that 440xx is not listed in mhwd anymore.
I have tried to uninstall all drivers and install the nvidia-440xx-utils from the AUR, but couldn’t get it to work.

Follow the current news in the appropriate channels, this is all over the forum since weeks/months now.

Dropping all legacy and older Nvidia drivers ?!?

[image] It becomes harder and harder to support the older and legacy Nvidia drivers for upcoming kernel series. Starting with 5.9 kernel series, only 450 and 455 are supported by this kernel. Older drivers simply don’t compile anymore. Out of the two, only 455 supports CUDA. If we look at Arch, they already dropped the legacy drivers completely. [Support/How-To] Compile old/legacy Nvidia Proprietary Drivers [2020-12-30 Update Issue]

With the Stable-Update on the 2020-12-30 we decided to Remove outdated Nvidia Drivers. This resulted in a massive negative feedback and broken systems. tldr: Install video-nvidia through Manjaro System Settings and you’ll have the latest Nvidia drivers. Install video-nvidia-390 and you’ll have the old legacy drivers kept for older cards. For other driver version you’ll need to use unofficial installation methods like DKMS package provided by philm, AUR package, manual installation/configuration.
