Hi @rendom, and welcome!

I’ve seen issues with Rufus before, so I’ll tell you to rather use Ventoy if you can:

I think it’s generally more recommended to use it instead of others, or at least Rufus.

Another option I’ve used before is Balena Etcher:

Hope this helps!

Edit:

An even more hardcore option, especially if you’re a beginner and a masochist is dd:

Alwasy check the ISO before writing to USB using shasum eller gpg.

The utility you choose to write the image to USB must support dd-mode.

The only exception is ventoy - as this is a simply drag’n’drop operation to the prepared stick.

However - using ventoy - you have two grub loader options. Sometimes the first work sometimes the other.

Some image applications - unetbootin and rufus, perhaps others as well - is unpacking the files and tries to boot the image - that will not work with Manjaro ISO.

Same error with Ventoy :face_exhaling:

I had manjaro before on the same machine but stopped working after it asked me to update kernel.

That’'s very important information. I hesitate to make a diagnosis, but I have a suspicion your kernel has been removed and not replaced. In which case you’ll have to chroot into the system to repair it.

But, and I just thought of this, if it is, indeed, the same error as before, it was probably not booting from the USB disk. And you should check that the ISO you’re trying to boot uses a still-supported, non-EOL kernel. I think.

But I have created this Live USB to replace my old Linux system. So my old linux is not used in this process. Yes it is booted from THE USB. It shows Ventoy interface.
I want to make a FRESH install.

Well since ventoy is known to work, it is either broken iso, or broken flash drive, and do not try to make a usb on a broken system.

Just use a known good efi system, download and verify the latest iso, and flash with one of the 2 tools on a known good or new flash drive, formatted as fat.

Ps. I would say corrupt iso or flash drive.

Problem solved. I have redownloaded the ISO with proper downloader app and not Chrome.

What’s the “proper downloader app” I ask because I just dl using the browser and never had any problems.

Please verify the checksum of the newly downloaded ISO. Clearly you didn’t perform this required step with the previous ISO. Cheers.
