Cannot run configure hook of “signal-desktop” snap

cannot perform the following tasks:

  • Run configure hook of “signal-desktop” snap if present (run hook “configure”: /snap must be a symbolic link to /var/lib/snapd/snap)

I go to download snap files, they start the download but when they actually go to install that message above comes up. I have installed snapd and all the other things necessary like yay etc but it still continually happens.

Any fix would be very very welcome as I’m an old guizer at 71 and past all the the finer details of things Linux but seeing Windows sucks, it’s a godsend having Manjaro on my big beast of a computer, it fly’s along with all the RAM etc that it has on board.

I would suggest not using snap for this simple task.

Just install Signal from the Official Repositories!

And, in case it’s not obvious, please remove the Snap version before installing the preferred package from the official Manjaro repositories.

Hi Ben

Not sure what a program “signal” is going to do to fix my problem, as it’s a chat app, nothing to do with the problem of mine. Or if it is, please be a bit more specific of what signal can do for my problem please.

Create it?

sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap

Now there should be a symbolic link at /snap which links to /var/lib/snapd/snap as required by the configure hook.

Restart snapd:

sudo systemctl restart snapd
