I3 apm, laptop does not sleep

Hey all,

Running a decent Lenovo laptop (nothing special) but has nvme so I’m happy.

i3 runs great and I love the keybindings and the reminder on the desktop…

Thank you for the attention to detail.

It seems the laptop never goes to sleep. Running KDE or Gnome (both Manjaro) I’ll get days out of the machine. At least a full nights work and then some.

i3… it just sits there with the blurred lock screen…

Laptop is for working at night, on work, after work…

Have a wireguard connection to work, doing remmina. Opera, and many terminals…

I’d like to keep i3 because of the minimal everything… but having the charger nearby where the machine is, it’s just hard in our house…

Did I possibly miss something I was supposed to do with apm?

Same results with stock linux513, linux514, and linux-tkg-cacule (chaotic-aur)

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I3 gaps same problem! I used the polybar themes and seems to put the laptop in a sleep mode. I try to setup i3 gaps with polybar myself couldn’t set up the sleep mode. Never looked at the theme to see what is written in the config file.

Polybar themes and tint2 have several themes that actually work with sleep mode. Default mode in i3 gaps is to log out not sleep mode.

so xfce4-power-manager is running from ~/.i3/config

BUT

xfce4-power-manager-settings apparently needs to be run to enable/configure it…

Will see…

I’ll be back…

This seems to have been the answer.

Normally with KDE or Gnome the power button will pulse when asleep.

With this it just stays on, but at least it’s asleep.

Now to fight networkmanager-wireguard…
