Hi.
I have an older T460s that I had installed Manjaro on some time ago. I have not updated it for a long time before yesterday. After the update it broke (vmlinuz not found during boot. which is weird, because I don’t think I’ve interrupted the update, but perhaps I’m wrong), and I’m trying to rescue it by booting into Manjaro installer on a USB device (and then chrooting it and so on).
The problem is that it doesn’t see the USB drive in the boot menu. I have two other laptops which can successfully boot into Manjaro from that USB drive, and I’ve also tried both directly dding it, and using ventoy. I’ve tried all the USB ports in the laptop (and I’m sure that at least one of them is working because I used usb mouse receiver there just before it all broke) without success. I’ve tried to set the laptop to boot both in UEFI and legacy mode just in case.
Any ideas what else I can try?
Is the USB stick/device listed in the boot list in the bios? Is the USB stick/device listed if you press F12 during boot up?
BIOS settings are what I’d go for in this case, assuming F12 is the boot menu @nazark is referring to.
I should point out that it’s normally recommended to disable CSM and set the firmware to (U)EFI only. Maybe the CMOS cell is failing and it lost its settings? 
Ah sorry I forgot to attach the last screenshot showing the boot menu, and it seems I cannot upload it now (due to having a new account or something probably?). But yeah, it doesn’t show up in boot menu on T460s (but does on other laptops), and that’s the problem 
Yeah I’ve already tried whatever I could there. Made sure secure boot is off, played around with boot modes (uefi only, both, bios only), nothing helps.

Tried it again just now, still no usb in my boot menu.
I don’t think the problem is with CMOS setting, as the changes I do in BIOS (e.g. changing boot mode / enabling/disabling CSM etc.) are being persisted, so probably it’s not that?
I don’t suppose you have another stick to try? It could possibly be getting flaky if it’s been used a lot. Contacts get tarnished, etc. (and in the laptop ports, too; additionally check those for lint, dust etc.). An air duster is often handy. 
By the way, I merged your posts to keep things tidy. It’s preferred that additional details be added into the existing post if there are no intervening replies.

I don’t think the problem is in the USB stick itself, since it works on two other laptops and successfully boots into Manjaro.. Rather something weird with T460s which for some reason can’t read it, while other laptops can…

Is there perhaps something like “Security > I/O Port Access > USB Port” in the BIOS? If so it should be set to enabled.
Yep there is, and yep it is enabled.
There is also a USB UEFI BIOS Support option which is also enabled.
And also, I did manage to install Manjaro on it somehow a few years ago (and haven’t changed any BIOS settings since, apart from what I was/am trying to do after the installation broke now), so all those BIOS options must be ok probably..
This is odd. Perhaps it is something with the ISO. If you have ventoy I would quickly download some other ISO, say from Solus and try whether this shows up.
I currently have ventoy on the USB (so not directly Manjaro’s ISO, rather Manjaro’s ISO on ventoy) which boots on other laptops. I will try Solus both with ventoy and dded directly and report back 
Yes, worth a try, but if Ventoy was also attempted and that wasn’t recognized either … 
(was the Ventoy stick set up in (U)EFI/GPT mode?)
Worth trying an older Manjaro .ISO via dd, as well.

Is your ventoy up to date?
There was an issue about two months ago with ventoy being unable to boot on certain older Intel CPU and motherboard combinations.
The problem has since then be remedied, but you do need to use the latest ventoy on the USB stick.
Should be up to date, installed it just today, 1.1.17-1
What you could try is enter the boot device settings in the UEFI, and while you’re on that screen, unplug and replug the USB stick. I had to do this on my motherboard here as well the first time I tried booting from USB.
I’ve tried Solus, both through ventoy and directing dding, both work on other laptops but do not work on my t460s
plugging/unplugging USB stick while in the boot menu also does not do anything
well, I think trying another usb stick is the only sane option left so I will try to do that tomorrow, thanks for all the help!
And another port on that pc? Preferably on the other side so that you are sure it is the other hub. Even if it is 2.0, at least for the test.
If the stick works on the other laptops, then it’s not the stick which is the problem, but the laptop.
Did you you clean (or at least check) the USB ports on the laptop?
Does the laptop have an OS on it, if so, can you mount the stick and copy files to it?
can you confirm there is on admin password on your UEFI laptop
