Cannot add google contacts to kde kaddressbook

i can add google setting and select account to connect- then in browser it says you can close the tab and return to app
however nothing happens – no contacts are added – calendar works fine but not the contacts

what am i doing wrong?

i use manjaro kde (stable branch)
