I am interested in the G52E mali present in this processor. I have tested with glmark2-es2 and get a low 150 mark compared with over 200 for the G31 in 905X2.
Any input?
hello, with g52 mp6 (yours is g52 mp2) on Manjaro kde , i get about 1300-1400 (my record with khadas kernel is 1749) with glmark2-es2-wayland command.

hello, yes it’s true, it can still give an indication, the g52mp2 has a third of the power of a g52mp6 so the bench should give about 230, well at least because I think my GL score is strangely low too…
I have changed to gnome and the benchmark has double to 300. It’s the same for G31 on xcfe. I think is low but gnome desktop behaves better and lighter than xcfe.
On GT King Pro (G52 MP6), Manjaro-Arm-Gnome or KDE is very well packaged and smooth on Wayland. On Xorg/X11 performance is not as good and also there is the “mouse pointer” flicker when something is loading.
Rpi4b/v3d/mesa-git/glmark2-es2-wayland score is 567.
I have made a fair comparison between rk3566 G52 and s905x2 G31 in gpu performance. I have used gnome with 6.0.9 kernel and 1280x720 display resolution.
Glmark2-es2 gives 370 for G31 and 330 for G52. So the old gpu wins.
YouTube at 1080HD on Firefox is fine on both processors with 100% cpu usage for rk3566 and 80% for s905x2.
So despite panfrost is here from a long time the G52 support remains poor like in the beginning.
Have you tried non-es2 ones?

You made me think that I could be testing a G52 MP1 vs G31 MP2 ???. So the panfrost driver is really behaving good.
The g52mp2 is given for 54.4 GFLOPS and g31mp2 for 20.8 GFLOPS, I believe there is a problem with the panfrost driver. But hey, supposedly it’s normal for Alyssa…
also have to consider the memory bandwidth issue.
