Good morning,
I’ve woken up to my computer not being able to connect to anything today.
The only thing I can think of that I did yesterday was upgrade 10 packages via pamac. But other than that just played some games on Steam.
I can see that my wired connection is connected. I have an IP address, I can ping my router and access my Home Assistant instance on a Raspberry Pi. But I cannot connect to anything outside of my network. I get the same experience if I disable my wired connection and connect through my wireless card.
Looking for some suggestions to help me get back online.
I can see that pamac shows an update history, so here it is (I’m having to copy this manually from my laptop, which is connected to the same network):
upgraded postman-bin (9.0.2-1 -> 9.0.5-1)
upgraded gitkraken (8.0.0-2 -> 8.0.1-1)
upgraded skeuos-gtk-theme-git (20210813.r2.g6d1ac97-1 -> 20210921.r2.gc08bcb1-1)
upgraded teamviewer (15.21.4-1 -> 15.22.3-1)
upgraded google-chrome (94.0.4606.61-1 -> 94.0.4606.71-1)
upgraded thunderbird (91.1.1-1 -> 91.1.2-0.1)
upgraded papirus-folders (1.9.0-1 -> 1.10.0-1)
upgraded nvidia-utils (470.63.01-1 -> 470.63.01-2)
installed libxnvctrl (470.63.01-1)
installed egl-wayland (1.1.7-1)
installed eglexternalplatform (1.1-2)
upgraded manjaro-pulse (20210109-1 -> 20211001-1)
upgraded manjaro-alsa (20210109-1 -> 20210928-1)
This was just the result of clicking the upgrade button in the GUI.
Any advice is much appreciated. Hopefully I can learn something about what went wrong and how to prevent it in the future.
Here is my inxi -Fx output in case it helps. Apologies it’s a photo, I can’t find a way to copy and paste between my computers.
Update: here’s an interesting thing. I have a Nextcloud VM running on this machine. I can connect to the VM and ping google.com
and it works just fine. But ping google.com
from the host returns ping: google.com: Name or service not known
