I’ve only been using Manjaro for a few months, but whenever I update via Add/Remove Software or sudo pacman -Syu the download and install moves along fine until

which literally takes over an hour. I do have several drives in my PC, but I don’t understand why it’s searching those drives for bootable partitions. Is there a way to exclude those drives? Why else would it take so long?

got it. i can’t give you a helping hand because i’m not experienced enough about encrypted filesystems. but from what i do understand is that there is an issue with creating/updating grub-bootloader with your encryption. you should focus your search to this item. hopefully some else here can give you a helping hand at this.

Since os prober didn’t find anything anyway and it seems you are not dualbooting, why don’t you just disable osprober? Just change the above setting to true and sudo update-grub
4 Likes
check journalctl and dmesg and see if there is something printed while osprober is running and finishes.
OK, done. Will update this post next time I update with results.
