The XFCE4 taskbar behaves unexpectedly: some windows are missing their titles in the taskbar. Specifically, every second window occasionally does not display its title, making it difficult to identify and distinguish windows.
Steps to Reproduce
Open multiple windows of the same applications.
Observe the taskbar display.
Notice that some windows (often every second opened window) do not show a title in the taskbar.
Expected Behavior
All opened windows should display their respective titles in the taskbar correctly.
Actual Behavior
Some windows in the taskbar do not display a title, especially every second window opened.
It is also placing them on the wrong side and grouping. Did you try to remove and readd the windows plugin and to play with its settings? Or to downgrade to the stable version just to be sure it is really a bug?
Could be. This seems like a completely different source, although the versions are the same. Just downloaded the gitlab - double so big with about 50 more files, ok some of them are git control but still.
My next thought was to test whether it also happens with none-grouped windows. @banjo its not happen when windows in none grouped mode. I change additionally that windows sorted by Timestamp.
Re:
Something deep in my memory (old bug) pops up.
Test:
Reenable grouped windows, move panel to the top, hover over grouped icons again.
Do you see text this way?
I remember an old bug where under certain settings the text was only visible below the panel, so you couldn’t see it with the panel at the bottom.
But that was years ago and I was never affected - my panel is/was always on the left side.
