Hello forum,
I signed up to report a weird behaviour I experienced with my new PC and installation.
HP EliteDesk 800 G4
i5-8500 with integrated GPU UHD 630
16 GB RAM
M2 SSD
4k screen at DisplayPort 1.2
Manjaro Gnome stable edition
updated daily
initially run with kernel 5.16, since 1+ week kernel 5.17RC
The computer hangs up repeatedly for up to a minute. btop shows very low CPU load during the freezes, followed by a spike when btop catches up. RAM is 60 % free, disk usage very low.
The freezes seemed to not depend on the open website, with the exception of Reddit. Here freezes occured roughly twice per minute instead of roughly every 10 minutes. Sluggishness was so bad that even typing was impossible.
Just switched to kernel 5.15 and the freezing is gone. The PC is responsive as expected.
When I set up this desktop with Manjaro Gnome 2 weeks ago, I also updated my old notebook to the same distribution. Lenovo Thinkpad X200s (2009) with Centrino Core 2 Duo L9400 and 2 GB RAM. This does not show any freezes under kernel 5.17.
Welcome to the forum!
Please post your system info as outlined here:
Welcome to Manjaro!
To allow all of us helpful people on this forum TO HELP YOU, we need some basic information about your system. This probably means you described the symptoms of your problem, but now we need some more information to know where the origin of your issue is exactly.
Someone else probably linked you to this tutorial, so if you’re reading this in response to a question, please click the link above this text to bring you to the full and unabridged text of the tutorial…

How verbose do you need it?
I just tried to post the result of inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --width, but the forum software didn’t let mw. I’m not allowed o post links - but can’t see a link in the inxi report.
Paste the inxi

Formatting differences
Discourse – this forum’s engine – uses Markdown to format its posts, and removes “unnecessary” whitespace.
Terminal commands often produce output formatted so that they are better readable by the user, taking advantage of the monospaced font used.
Programming code often rely on indentation to make it more readable.
Using preformatting in Markdown
Markdown includes a pattern to provide preformatting when necessary.
You only need to put the part to f…
Kernel 5.15 is what I am running since yesterday, that solved the issue.
Before I ran kernels 5.16 and 5.17 RC from the Manjaro stable branch, installed with the Manjaro Settings tool.
