Bluetooth - No device detected

Hi all,

I’ve just bought a bluetooth adapter for my pc: https://plugable.com/products/usb-bt4le/
I’ve tried everything I’ve found in this forum and in the archived one without result including install bcm43142a0-firmware from the AUR instead of manjaro-firmware, change the name of the driver, test all services…
I send you all the system reports that I’ve get.

Thanks all in advance…

I’ve left for the end the two reports with visible errors: bluez.service seems to fail in systemd and journalctl.

Best regards.

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

According to the product specification page

Linux kernels after June 2012 or so have support for this adapter. Support has been back ported to kernels back to later point releases of stable kernels 3.0+, specifically 3.0.34, 3.2.20, and all versions of 3.4.The adapter’s USB VID is 0x0a5c (Broadcom) and PID 0x21e8.

so it’s not compatible with the 5-series of the kernel you’re running,

Broadcom dongles are the most finicky to install under Linux as Broadcom doesn’t support Linux at all so it’s the kernel team’s responsibility to reverse-engineer the Windows drivers and then create the Linux Broadcom modules.

So the options you have are:

  • Change the Bluetooth dongle to anything else but Broadcom
  • Install a compatible kernel (Meaning: find a really old Linux with really old software) and run that.

:sob:

Hi Fabby.

Thank you so much for your answer.

I’ll look for another device… Any sugerence?

Bye!

Product recommendations are off-topic here, but search for a linux compatible dongle youself…

Thank you so much. Apreciate it.

It’s the same source that I used to buy this one… And the 1st device (plugable) on the list is the bluetooth adapter that chose to buy. Bad luck!

King regards.
