Same here. AMD GPU, blender crashes immediately on launch.
Same problem, and same error messages in crash.log. I also run an AMD graphics chip
Just verified here with a 5600u. Identical crash log.
Was just coming to report this, glad it’s already known. Blender downloaded from its official website works, you can try out the new 4.0 version there. But the package installed by Manjaro indeed crashes instantly on startup, identical tmp/blender.crash.txt
as in the first post.
Known issue with AMD GPUs: 17:4.0.1-2 Segfault on start (#2) · Issues · Arch Linux / Packaging / Packages / blender · GitLab
Youtube is usually a big nono on the forum, but this happened, could it be related somehow? Could things that should sync have become broken during this time and that caused errors?
DDOS Takes Down Blender… Cloudflare Saves The Day - youtube.com
Youtube is usually a big nono on the forum
Disagree - most youtube content is ok to post here, but not this drama-queen clickbait
A fair appraisal but looks like he changed the link.
I edited link so users don’t have to see a smug-face troll
Forum Rules - 17 No Trolling — Manjaro Wiki
A “troll” is a person who intentionally attempts to disrupt, cause controversy, incite an argument, and/or receive negative attention by deliberately posting provocative content. The term may also refer to the act of posting such content, or the content itself.
Trolls are generally deceitful and often use ambivalence as a method of covertly insulting, intimidating, or inciting a person or persons for their own sadistic pleasure. They often pick their words very carefully and are therefore able to defend their masked attempts at creating unrest, frequently redirecting the blame onto the community and its supposed failure to understand them properly. Trolling is strictly prohibited.
I see that opinion come up once in a while. Exactly how do you suggest a youtuber should act instead? Since the youtube algorithm hides you UNLESS you do thumbnails like this?
If the problem was me including the thumbnail I beg your forgiveness. Why not just edit the post and leave out the snarky comment. You are a community Assistant after all.
I’m backing off, my intention was not to start drama about content creators, but rather add to the conversation with a question if the DDOS attack could be related somehow.
Edit
I missed the follow up comment. WTF is wrong with you?
Do you seriously think you can apply A FORUM RULE BASED ON HOW SOMEBODY LOOKS???!?!?!
The fact you quote a forum rule WITH THAT COMMENT just fkn blows my mind.
SHAME ON YOU!
‘smug-face’ was just my opinion. Trolling is based on previous behaviour
the youtube algorithm hides you UNLESS you do thumbnails like this?
No dispute that youtube encourages such toxic behaviour, but no excuse either
Note that link was not deleted, just thumbnail image removed
Please stop with the all-caps comments

blender 3.6.2 is LTS
You can install blender-lts-bin
alongside blender for now.
And kernel 6.6 is there because some amdpu modules are missing blender work on the old kernels and flatpak if you have a nvidia card.
resolved with version 4.0.1-7 archlinux packages
I updated the system today but blender still fails to start, for now those who have steam, install blender from there, works ok for now.
Certainly on Testing branch, for me at least - Blender 4.0 loads without any errors now.
I notice the Gitlab report isn’t closed yet; probably waiting on general feedback, as the fix seems to work for some, and not for others.
