After some a few hundred updates which also removed some conflicting packages my screen turned black after reboot. I found out that putting back the # in front of WaylandEnable=false in the /etc/gdm/custom.conf file makes the system work again. The # was originally removed when I followed this guide: ‘Guide: Install and configure optimus-manager for hybrid GPU setups (Intel/NVIDIA) - Tutorials - Manjaro Linux Forum’ . And I now my optimus-manager doesn’t work as a result of me presumably running wayland. I suspect the problem is somewhere in Xorg, but don’t know how to find/fix the issue. I’ve already tried to reinstall gnome and follow the guide again, and to reinstall the xorg-server package.
