I have an install of manjaro on an m.2 from my old laptop, I uninstalled the hyrbid nvidia graphics and It still boots on a old laptop (thinkpad t420 i5 2520m), when I put it in my new laptop (Alienware m18 r1 13900hx rtx 4080) the screen is black with no splash screen and I can’t drop into tty, it still boots on my old laptop and I can chroot into the installation on the new laptop with a manjaro usb, the laptop can see the drive. in the old laptop it boots fine. I installed the newest 6.11 kernel but it still the same problem. I tried to hold shift but grub won’t come up. I edited my /etc/default/grub
file and removed splash and quiet. but that did nothing either, what do I do next?
Hello Penguin,
You using a old Linux install from a total differend and old system and want to use it now on your total differend and new system?
I think the best way should be a clean install and only overwrite your Home partition after a fresh install, if you don’t want to reconfig your system.
Btw. LTS Kernel 6.6 should run more stable on the most systems/settings, maybe try this out.
6.6 was what it had before but that wasn’t working either. I don’t want to do a clean install because I have a ton of programs and setting I would have to reconfigure. it would take me less time to fix the install than reconfigure everything
I don’t have have a seperate home partition, how do I reinstall without having to reinstall all my programs and re customize KDE
