Replace MODULES=() with:

MODULES=(i915 nvidia)

at /etc/mkinitcpio.conf

Then run sudo mkinitcpio -P to update the initramfs.

Reason is that the driver scheduled late and therefore the display-manager does not start at first time when switching from basic video mode to the graphical mode

The modules are included then into the initramfs (ram disk), therefore loaded explicitly and not loaded when needed what could result in crashes since some display-managers does not wait so long for the driver become ready.

(I guess this problem will not stop. I get tired of writing this :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

MODULES

The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are

run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules

in this array. For instance:

MODULES=(piix ide_disk reiserfs)

MODULES=""
I see 2 lines “modules”. Should I uncomment the above line and change it as you mentioned ?

old method → MODULES="i915 nvidia"
new method → MODULES=(i915 nvidia)

Just replace MODULES="".
