Error at bootup - No irq handler for vector

Hey everyone! I’m very new to Manjaro but not entirely new to linux.

I’ve got everything setup the way I want with a few visual tweaks to go. I’m loving it so far :grinning:

In order to do get my touchscreen to work properly in firefox I had to turn wayland on with an nvidia optimus graphics using nvidia prime. I know this is turned off in a forced way for a reason. I accept the risks and potential bugs as long as it doesn’t impact me too much. I’m not too fussed about using my nvidia graphics as I only really use it for dev work or general browsing.

Anyway, I am getting an error at boot but it doesn’t impact my day. More of a minor annoyance.

I ran the following:

sudo dmesg | egrep -i "interrupt|spurious"

[ 0.118166] __common_interrupt: 0.108 No irq handler for vector
[ 0.204375] ACPI: EC: interrupt blocked

[ 3.230515] i801_smbus 0000:00:1f.4: SMBus using PCI interrupt

Any ideas what it might be? I’ve been trying to work it out but so far no luck.

Done. I wasn’t aware it could use markdown

BIOS update

HP computers are cursed. If I hadn’t had the deal I had, I would have switched to Lenovo. I came from an original x360, it had already taken years for Linux to catch up with HP shenanigans. Against my best resolve, I bought a new X360 Envy, figuring it couldn’t be worse. I was wrong. HP bends over backwards to prevent you from running Linux. The devs do an incredible job in the end, but it takes time to entangle all the traps that are voluntarily put in their way.
To come back to the problem at hand, I believe the error in question is linked to saving the state of the screen brightness. No irq means the system can’t set the brightness at the previous level, and hence most of the time defaults to the lowest setting.
Sorry, no solution. I’m at the latest bios revision, and the problem still exists.

Thanks very much @mauve02. I won’t be buying another one, especially with nvidia hybrid graphics

That error isn’t the end of the world. I will just live with it unless someone can come up with a solution, but at least I know what is causing it.

There is a likelihood the BIOS is related. And such an error would be machine/bios specific.
