Hello @kitty and welcome to the Manjaro Community! :vulcan_salute:

I’m no audio guru, but we do have at least one member here who (at least I think) is. But, to begin with, you would be wise to provide some system information, so we know where to start.

To this end, please provide the output of:

inxi -zv8

… please use the code formatting (the </> button at the top of the Reply window or the three backticks ``` on lines above and below the pasted output).

Note: This output is privacy-filtered using the above command.

 inxi -zv8  ✔

Thanks, I don’t see anything amiss with the audio info there; hopefully @nikgnomic will be able to assist.

I do see though that a lot of your RAM is in use and you have no swap defined; this may not be related to the issue but is worth tending to. Also the 15-day uptime suggests you haven’t updated to the latest packages, or at least rebooted following such.

yeah, i dont shutsdown my laptop, i close the lid and it goes to hybernate, i do update from terminal once a month or so, my work is mostly reading pdfs and writing on gdocs, so i dont need any cutting edge software or something like that, using windows for some reason is overheating my laptop and it feels bloated, that is the main reason why i shifted to linux

If you are not rebooting after a major update, including e.g. a kernel update, you are still running off (some of) the old versions of software.

This is bound to cause issues as libraries etc. may have changed on-disk, whereas the program still in RAM needs the previous version(s).

ETA:
For “minor software updates” e.g. Firefox, just restart the browser or whatever. Sometimes it’s helpful to log-out and back in again, but for major system components eg. the Kernel, a reboot is always recommended.

But that’s not the point. Manjaro is a rolling-release distribution, and it must be kept up-to-date.

Please read the following short essay… :backhand_index_pointing_down:

ok, but what to do wtih my earphones not working??

Hi @kitty,

Could you try two things with your earphones plugged in?

  1. Go to Settings → Sound → Output and check if you see a USB audio device listed there. If so, try selecting it. If this is not working, step 2.

  2. Open a terminal and run and show the output :
    The sink part is important.

wpctl status

from that output you’ll see:

  • Whether the Moondrop shows up as a sink at all
  • What sink ID it has
  • Whether it’s set as default or not

That should give us a clear picture of what’s going on.

EDIT: example. I just bought a set of Adam active desktop speakers using DAC. Youre moondrop is using DAC too.
Should look something like this. * 55.

Sinks:
 │ 34. Built-in Audio Digital Stereo (HDMI) [vol: 0.60]
 │ * 55. PCM2704 16-bit stereo audio DAC Analog Stereo [vol: 0.65]

Found 2 git projects for the moondrops.

:man_shrugging:

First of all, update your system and reboot. If you don’t do that, then your system is in an unsupported state, and then we cannot help you.

thanks @musdus , it worked, it did show up in the sinks at first but not on the output section and didnt know why but it after running the command and i restarted the laptop now and just to check and its working, dont know why ¯_(ツ)_/¯

So after reboot the system did the final steps after update and system is reacting as normal. Something like this

Nice you get it to work…
