[ARM Stable Update] 2021-07-06 - KDE Plasma, Firefox, Quartz64 support and Kernels

The mirror that install is using might not have synced yet.

11 posts were split to a new topic: [Pinebook Pro] 5.13 no longer boots from NVME

Thanks. Was able to update Manjaro-Arm GNOME Editon on USB Flash. But something interesting.

Update: Well so far the mainline linux 5.13.0-2 can reboot an shutdown cleanly on SD Card.
Somehow on USB flash drive the mainline linux 5.13.0-2, can only shutdown cleanly (i.e. does not need power cycle to restart/boot) but will Reboot into Android thus far (tried 6 times over the past few hours). And after reboot into Android, need a Linux on SD Card to regain the capability to boot again from USB Flash. Interesting. Will update if situation changes. With clean Shutdown is a good start.

I feel like a slacker, I havenā€™t made an account on the new forums until I ran into small snag up dating today I thought I should pass along.

Reboot didnā€™t seem to show any issues other than a longer than normal start up time. I have another system, also an RPi4, that also experienced the same hiccup during the update.

sway on rpi400, no issues
just a wlr libseat error annoyance, easily fixed by adding LIBSEAT_BACKEND=logind to /etc/environment

The Odroid C2 donā€™t reboot after the up dateā€¦
red led fixe

Got the same ā€˜issueā€™ with my rpi4 too. After rebooting a systemctl status reports all working well, a dmesg shows nothing related to this.

Hey guys. Things are looking really good on the phosh pinephone. Genuinely, the way this system works as compared to 12 months ago is just phenomenal.

Just seeing a small issue with this update; I have sim lock on my phone. When booting up, I am prompted for the sim password. If I enter the password at this prompt, the sim card is no longer recognised. I can close the prompt, enter the settings application and unlock the sim card from there with no issues.

Update your yay install. Version 10.2.3 should be Pacman 6 / libalpm 13 compatible.

Issues here when applying this update on an RPI4:

  • First in installing the keyring package:

    • got tons of warnings such as standard input reopened (maybe this is just a cosmetic issue)
    • got multiple repeated warnings on a single key 786C6F330ā€¦ no user id for key signature
      (maybe innocuous?)
    • got an error reading key: no public key (errors probably should not happen, but unclear what
      this is about)
  • Then in installing the packages:

    • In the post transaction hooks an assertion failed
assertion 'fd' failed at src/tmpfiles/tmpfiles.c:843, function fd_set_perms() causing /usr/lib/libalpm/scripts/systemd-hook to abort (line 28) and core to be dumped by /usr/bin/systemd-tmpfiles --create

I had same issues during ā€œpacman -Syuā€ like @callegar . After reboot is everything smooth.

Same on PBP:
( 3/18) Creating temporary files... Assertion 'fd' failed at src/tmpfiles/tmpfiles.c:843, function fd_set_perms(). Aborting. /usr/share/libalpm/scripts/systemd-hook: Zeile 28: 3371 Abgebrochen (Speicherabzug geschrieben) /usr/bin/systemd-tmpfiles --create Fehler: Befehl konnte nicht korrekt ausgefĆ¼hrt werden

Hey Strit,

I recently tried to run the quartz64 Model A with the minimal image provided on your github link. But Fail to get any boot process or response out of the device.

I also tried to create my own minimal image with manjaro-arm-tools using -e minimal and cloned from the lasted commits to master branch as well as updated the profiles as well.

Not sure if Iā€™m missing anything or why the board is not booting up. But any tips and tricks would be great.

How do you know it fails to boot?
Any errors?

Video-out does not work in the device kernel yet, so you would have to check with either UART or SSH/Ping.

That is good to know. As I was checking the HDMI. But didnt find anything on the network scan.

Iā€™ll try again. this makes more sense and explains alot.

Safe to assume HDMI support is in the works?

And minimal based custom images should work fine as well correct?

Hard to tell, there has been nothing submitted anywhere yet. But it should be worked on at some point for sure.

Yeah, it should. As long as you donā€™t need video for your usecase.

Awesome. Thanks Strit. Iā€™ll report back. Is this best medium or on github?

I am not sure if anyone else is using dracut and nfsrootā€¦ but dracut-055-1 is problematic. I missed dracutā€“054-1, so the issue could have started there. I will be investigating further.

Edit: It seems dracut-054 was skipped by Arch, likely due to the significant changes in that version.

Per this link, I added --add network-legacy to my dracut-install script, and now all is goodā€¦ issue resolvedā€¦ for now.

Using a minimal based him for quartz should i be getting the OEM user?

I would prefer to maintain my own OEM process. Which worked previously before this latest update.

The minimal image will give you the OEM setup on first boot. Either when connected via SSH or UART, since video out does not work on Quartz64 yet.
