[ARM Stable Update] 2021-06-18 - Pacman 6, Plasma 5.22, PlaMo Gear 21.06, Firefox 89, Gnome 40.2 and Kernels

No the issue in due to drivers in my Linux machine, I can’t read any SD card from it.

How do I check for corruption of the SD card in Windows? I’m going to get one of those USB to SD card reader adapters soon anyways, I really can’t make the built in laptop reader to work regardless of what I do.

Does the fact that the light stay on give any relevant information? From what I’ve picked up online the red one is for power and the yellow one for the SD card, which always flashed a lot during the boot process, as it should because there’s a lot of IO going on, but now it just stay solid, so it might very well be the SD card.

TTYs do not support UTF-8 anymore.

For example:

printf "\u20AC"

do not print € but ?^J or ?? or ?, according to shell or multiplexer.

Someone to confirm the bug?

TTY2 available with ctrl+alt+2. ctrl+alt+7 to return to graphical interface.

Hi,

On my Pi 4 4GB, I follow OP’s “How to use Kodi RPI on Manjaro ARM”, Kodi won’t run, and if I run it from cmd, I got this:

/usr/lib/kodi/kodi-xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate
ERROR: Unable to create GUI. Exiting
/usr/lib/kodi/kodi-xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default

I’m on stable channel, a freshly installed xfce version for pi 4.

Anyone know how to fix it?

Or does xfce / gnome / plasma matter?

Thanks!

Did you follow the guide in post #1 in this thread to install kodi-rpi4 so it will not boot into a desktop but straight into kodi?

Oh, that’s the only part I skipped, thinking i was going to launch kodi from within a DE.

After disabling lightdm and enable kodi, now it works, thanks for the tip!

kodi.service sets up a different environment.

Hi.

On my PinePhone stable release (the one the factory installed) the display is dark (or brightness 0 ?) after the KDE icon has been shown during boot for a while.

Actually, while updating the display went dark and did not come back. After leaving it for quite a while in the hope that it would come back I rebooted and now regulary get the dark screen.

What exactly happens after reboot is:

  • Power light turns on and then off
  • The KDE symbol shows and rotates
  • Symbol rotation stops
  • The mouse pointer shows and then dissapepears (I think this is normal)
  • after another few seconds the display turns dark

How to report the bug? Who manages?

Hi @Strit,

Still cannot login to KDE Plasma (Wayland) session. Just freeze at login screen. Below is the “wayland-session.log”. Power recycle to reboot and login to Plasma (X11).

Plasma Wayland is not mature enough on most devices at this point. :frowning:

I unfortunately wasn’t able to use my PineBook Pro for a longer period of time. However, upon coming back to it after this update

Everything’s getting really smooth. Even running Parsec through the web browser (currently chromium only) was at a playable state for at least certain games and general remote desktop use.

Overall, great work. I can’t wait to see how things continue to develop, especially now that I can play around with the PBP again.

Hit a few snags in the past, but overall I really do feel like it gets better with every update, even performance, generally speaking.

Begginner here: my microSD was corrupted, but later ive managed to flash sway to rpi4. I love how sway is improving, but sadly i still cant fix my keyboard layout (pt-br-abnt2). The maintainer kindly send me instructions, but messing in config files seems out of my experience
i understand sway is not target to begginners lol. Anyway, i might try it again later today. Later, ive tryed flashing gnome by rpi imager, but my microSD didn’t booted. As user @_Undercover reported above, maybe its a rpi4 problem. I might try it again in the next update with a better microSD.

The sway keyboard layout fix informed by the maintainer (appelgriebsch) was: please have a look here: Home · swaywm/sway Wiki · GitHub. The changes can be either done globally (/etc/sway/inputs/default-keyboard) or for your user session only (~/.config/sway/conf.d/00-user.conf)

We are currently investigating the boot issues with the RPi4 image for the GNOME profile.

Hi all,
Reboot mess things in rpi 3b and brings inestable system, while if I poweroff and switch it on everithing is load properly. For now I’ve found:

  • Lost net (wifi, eth) connection after reboot
  • sudo command is unusable (keep blank, ctrl+c doesn’t stop it).

It happened creating a sd with «manjaro-arm-installer», but due to that check also downloading last manjaro arm img file and update within.
I can’t post journalctl -x -b due to word limit. So it’s here:

One thing it looks like you need to install crda if it is not installed and set for your country’s Regulatory Domain.

What image did you download and install?

Looks like it’s solved!
That package (crda) wasn’t installed but anyway eth and wifi sometimes worked, sometimes it isn’t, now I’ve installed «crda» and tested four times without problem.
Anyway, I’d tried with «manjaro-arm-installer» and with this Manjaro img file, issues unveiled after upgrade was done.
Thank you!

That file is half a year old. Please always use the current images when re-installing.

We have a new RPi4 Gnome image build ready. Please try 21.07. in our tests it performed well.
