Apps freeze regularly on i3 desktop

Hello, im a new manjaro user
The apps get freeze, but the mouse still work.
But I can still switch between windows, only the application freezes for a few seconds and then returns to normal. In any type of application this happens even in the console.

im using i3 desktop with a Ryzen 5 2400g
Thank u

Hi and welcome to the forum :wave: Thank you for the pretty formatting :smiley:

I’m not sure what the cause could be, but from your log there is a line above that reports something expected is missing, Have you tried to enable iommu in the BIOS/UEFI settings?

Kernel 5.13 is getting no more updates, move tho 5.14 or 5.15 and/or a LTS (5.10 / 5.4).

Thank u, i will try enabling iommu in the bios and move to 5.10 LTS.

Now
im using kernel 5.10 LTS and i enable iommu alredy.

Well, I have done that, but, the error persists. It doesn’t freeze completely, it just stays there for a few seconds and during those seconds I can switch to another application while it is frozen and in a few seconds it returns to normal.

I have new logs, sorry for my english

Im going to try it, thank u

I have already updated the bios to the latest version and the problem persists.

It’s not that the whole system freezes, but, what happens is that the applications freeze for a while, but they return to normal. And I can continue working.

I don’t think it’s something physical in the hdd. I have other distros and this problem is not present.

maybe could be any kind of power saving feature enabled?

Interesting, because this

sometimes can happen if the SATA cable is low quality or is somehow moved while the drive is being used, some bad connection.

If you have TLP installed, then remove it.
Have you tried with creating /etc/udev/rules.d/60-schedulers.rules with this content in it:

# set deadline scheduler for non-rotating disks
ACTION=="add|change", KERNEL=="sd[a-z]", ATTR{queue/rotational}=="0", ATTR{queue/scheduler}="deadline"
# set bfq-mq scheduler for rotating disks
ACTION=="add|change", KERNEL=="sd[a-z]", ATTR{queue/rotational}=="1", ATTR{queue/scheduler}="bfq-mq"

?
Have you noticed when this happen if the memory is full and the system tries to write on swap at that time, and hangs everithing?

i have remove tlp and i have create /etc/udev/rules.d/60-schedulers.rules with the content

# set deadline scheduler for non-rotating disks

# set bfq-mq scheduler for rotating disks
ACTION=="add|change", KERNEL=="sd[a-z]", ATTR{queue/rotational}=="1", ATTR{queue/scheduler}="bfq-mq"

i don’t think memory is full because this happens even in the console. also i have swap of 8gb. idk thank u, maybe is the SATA cable
