Applications like VLC and Blender crash after opening on new install kernel 5.14

I definitely didn’t install by command line that way. I don’t know what I did now. I went to add/remove software, searched for blender and followed the prompts to install from there. Thats the AUR right? Don’t know. I’m still pretty new to Manjaro, sorry.

No, however Add/Remove Software provides access to AUR packages of you enable it. See:

When searching for a package, pay attention to the source. AUR packages are labeled as such. Always install packages from the repos if available. They’ll be labeled core, community, extra or multilib.

Ok well the installation failed again. I went to terminal and wrote that command out and then restarted the installation again just now. Its going just as slow as before. Not sure it will install. Getting frustrated here! I thought Manjaro was easy to use?

Obviously that is not a normal behavior.

Please paste the output of those commands:

Yeah, after all this time that Blender install attempt failed once again. What gives?

There should be more to the output we asked for. Please paste the whole thing.

Since you ran both commands at one and didn’t input your password for the second one, we’re still waiting.
And please format the output like you did before, it’s easier to read.

Sorry, I didn’t realize it hadn’t ran both commands, hows this? I ran the second command.

Thanks, so…

Regarding your issue with installing package, the prior error message you quoted may suggest your system fails to download the package from the mirrors. The purpose of sudo pacman-mirrors -f5 is to make a new list of 5 mirrors (among all existing) and sort them by access time (the lower the better).

  • If you do not find your mirror list reliable enough, you can refresh it by repeating that command.
  • Alternatively, you can use it to look for mirrors in specific countries / protocols, in order to narrow the list to mirrors closer to you. See man pacman-mirrors for details.

Also, you seem to be connected through Wi-fi.

  • Is your connection stable enough?
  • Do you have a bandwidth high enough?

Please try again to install your application after checking those.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! I would like to know how to figure this out and hopefully pay it forward sometime soon as I learn. So what command shall I use to install these apps? Sudo pacman install Blender? I tried this on the previous installation and as you know, I had all kinds of issues that forced me to freshly install Manjaro. Also, yes, I’m using wifi, I guess I will plug in the ethernet.

You’re mixing things together.

Either:

pamac install blender

Or:

sudo pacman -S blender

Thank you! So its in process right now of installing. Can you or someone tell me why I can’t seem to be able to install thru add/remove software? I thought that was the same thing as repo or AUR. I’m a bit confused now. Why does it seem to work so much quicker via command line than what was established in the menu system?

UPDATE: Great, Blender for the moment appears to be working and installed rather quickly.
Now onto to the flatpak or installation of Kdenlive and hopefully Davinci Resolve Studio. I 've watched some tutorials on installing Davinci Resolve on Manjaro and am skeptical. The last time I tried Manjaro two years ago, it was impossible. I got no help and then just quit Manjaro. I’m on this ongoing mission to continue my creative work in editing while not being beholding to Windows.
Thanks for stepping up here!

Refreshing your mirror list should have also benefited you on this. If you actually still have trouble, please open a new thread about this (so we don’t confuse topics).

Thank you so much maycne.sonahoz! - and especially everyone else here on this postI really hope to be able to pay this forward! I hope you guys continue to help me!
I’m getting ready to upgrade my system dramatically if I can find where to find a GPU soon. I like to edit video and work with film making! I am just looking to have different options to work with besides Windows and Mac.
