Any idea when the cinnamon community edition download will update?

looking at the official download page for Manjaro I see that the community is old and still on version 25.3 . Any idea on when a updated version will be available ?
Thanks ! :slight_smile:

I don’t know who or which community made this edition.

Use this to install, update it, and it’ll be current.
Might not be a smooth update because it’s more than half a year old.

Although the Cinnamon Community Edition on the downloads page is starting to look a little dated, once it is installed the first update you run will bring it up to the latest version. These are the versions of cinnamon in each branch as of today:

mbn info cinnamon -q | grep -Ev 'Name|Repository|Packager'
Branch         : archlinux
Version        : 6.6.5-1
Build Date     : Sat 17 Jan 2026 07:54:21
Branch         : unstable
Version        : 6.6.5-1
Build Date     : Sat 17 Jan 2026 08:44:15
Branch         : testing
Version        : 6.6.5-1
Build Date     : Sat 17 Jan 2026 08:44:15
Branch         : stable
Version        : 6.6.3-4
Build Date     : Mon 05 Jan 2026 04:17:33

mbn can be found in the manjaro-check-repos package

You might also want to take a look at the 2 unofficial community spins of Cinnamon that have been released over the past couple of months:

@stargazer1 Personally, I highly recommend the SbK Manjaro Cinnamon 126

You could always try to build it yourself, I think it’s fairly easy.

You are correct . I tried the current version of cinnamon , and the short version, it was a nightmare . Kept getting UUID errors among other issues , ( yes my drive is good and it was tested)
Why Manjaro would have a old version on their official download page that’s way out of date is beyond Me. . I can Imagine someone new to Manjaro downloading and trying to install this mess , what their reaction would be .NOT good ! :frowning:

It’s simply a bit older.
These (Cinnamon, i3 and sway) are community images - not official ones.
They can still be used, but require some effort because all the keys are invalid after such a long time.

… not official images - whoever made the community version is not working on it actively (apparently)

It’s still good.
But not for people without a bit of experience of what to do when a system is not updated regularly.
The exact same would happen if you didn’t update a perfectly running system for more than half a year.
Pretty easy to “fix”.

Indeed. The first step should be… :backhand_index_pointing_down:

sudo pacman-mirrors -f && sudo pacman -S archlinux-keyring manjaro-keyring && sudo pacman -Syu

:wink:

Live Manjaro 26.02.06 Xfce system.
Cinnamon interface, installed using “archlinux-tweak-tool”.

(You can still achieve your goal this way)

It was a little more involved than that.
Perhaps owed to the fact that I installed without a working network connection - unlikely, but I don’t know.
It was available when the installed and to be updated system was booted up.

Had to (temporarily) edit /etc/pacman.conf and change

SigLevel = Required DatabaseOptional
to
SigLevel = Required DatabaseNever

Reverted after the update.

Perhaps there is another, better, more proper way.
I took this route …

Sorry But I just gave up on Manjaro Cinnamon all together , I tried the spins , just not my cup of tea.
But i did find a distro that rocks, EndeavourOS that allows Me to build My OS and choose what desktop version I want , Cinnamon , bugie, KDE , just to name a few .
I choose what I want to install . unlike Manjaro that installs a bunch of apps I will never use and bloatware I have to uninstall . I can even pick my Ucode, AMD of Intel , or both .
I can do everything that manjaro offers , pamac, no problem, AUR , no issues , flatpaks no issues, swap or delete Kernels , no problem . Does take some learning, took some time to figure out But I was able to install the above mods with a google search.
Sorry to say Bye Manjaro , been my daily driver for years but Cinnamon has become unusable and the spins just dont cut it :frowning:

I can’t say I’ve ever had that problem with Manjaro. But then again I always download the Minimal Version, and add what ever applications I desire.

Well, that settles it then, I guess.
