Annoying perl locale warnings

Every time I run some commands, which I guess are perl scripts, I get these a

The issue is your time, Currency and Measurement settings in your Formats.
Since you only have en_US.UTF-8 enabled you get this error.

2 ways to go from here:

Delete ~/.config/plasma-localerc in your user profile. This will reset all the settings to default (en_US) in System settings > Format . Once deleted you the error in shell should be gone.
Enable all locales in system which you would need for settings of time, currency, measurement

Actually I see also en_US.UTF-8 is commented out:

And how did that happen? If I select those settings in KDE’s Format settings, why doesn’t it enable whatever needs to be enabled, or at the very least warn me that I need something that is not there?

User profile settings do not change your system-wide settings.

Use Manjaro Settings Manager it should be installed on your system. You can enable all the locales you need.

Ok, so, the options I find there don’t match the ones I have in KDE’s settings.

For example, in KDE, for Time I have “en_150.UTF-8” which, when you search for it, is found under “Engligh (Europe)”. That’s exactly how I want dates to be displayed, because it gives me the months and days in English, 24-hours time (I hate the AM-PM thing), and it gives me “day/month/year” (I’m fine with either day-month-year or year-month-day but I hate the American month-day-year).

When I go to Manjaro Settings Manager to Add a locale, I have to choose a language and then a “territory”. For language “English” there’s no “Europe” territory. The closest thing is United Kindom, but that gives me a dropdown with “en_GB.UTF8” and “en_GB”, but there’s no “en_150.UTF8”.

However, you can always sudo nano /etc/locale.gen and remove the # in front of en_150.
You’d have to run locale-gen afterwards.

I don’t know, but I don’t want the month and day names in Spanish (or Finnish or Romanian for that matter), I want them in English, but I do want day/month/year, and I want 24 hours as opposed to AM-PM (to me the three things should be three separate options, and the order of month/day/year in numeric format and the 12 vs 24 hours should have nothing to do with place or language, but whatever). Within the choices that KDE presented me, I found that en_150 “English (Europe)” that met those requirements.

Now I see that UK English does the same, so I’ll pick that.

But then there’s measurements. I need metric. In this case British English doesn’t do the trick because it’s imperial.

However, you can always sudo nano /etc/locale.gen and remove the # in front of en_150.

I thought about that, but there’s no en_150 there, commented or otherwise. Can I just add it and it will automagically work?

The AM/PM and 12/24 can also be changed in the clock widget for example without locales and most of the applications also have options to configure different formats, e.g libreoffice calc for metric system. It’s better though to have it maintained at one place than adjusting each application.
For metrics system any European locale offers that.

I personally don’t think you need en_150 at all.
Whether adding it manually works, I think not.

Ok, here’s the workaround that worked for me.

I found out that en_IE.UTF8 (Ireland) actually has both the dates and measurements (metric) that I want.

So in Manjaro Settings Manager I added that, and also es_ES.UTF8 which I need for currency format.

Then went back to KDE Settings and chose en_IE.UTF8 instead of en_150.UTF8 for dates and for measurements (en_ES.UTF8 was already selected for currencies).

I logged out and in, and now the warnings in Perl are gone.
