Animation Effects Toggle OFF is not Persistent

In Manjaro Gnome:
Settings > Accessibility > Seeing > Animation Effects
If switched OFF, the setting resets to ON after logout, restart, or power off.

Is this just my system, or a Gnome bug?

This is with Gnome under xorg (not wayland) in a VM.
I did not notice any difference whether set to on or off.
And the setting stayed as what it was set to across log out and log in as well as reboot.
→ not a bug, but your system I’d say

I don’t have Manjaro installed in a VM, but after testing Ubuntu in a QEMU/KVM VM with Manjaro host, I do find the toggle setting is persistent for the VM. But, for the Manjaro host, it is not persistent.

So the take-away from all this is that the problem seems restricted to Manjaro not being in a VM. Also, it happens in both Xorg and Wayland sessions.

The takeaway is that this is likely specific to your environment. @Nachlese has kindly tested in a VM and found nothing similar.

Now, you are in a unique position to verify whether or not the issue is limited to your environment:

Please create a new User account, reboot and login to that User account, and spend some time trying to generate the same condition.

If the same condition does not manifest, then it’s fair to say it is limited to your User environment, possibly your configuration, and not a system wide condition. This knowledge will help others to focus their attention on a local issue rather than wasting much time guessing at other possibilities.

If however, the issue does not manifest in a new User account, then the problem is likely elsewhere.

Please report your findings; in both X11 and Wayland, for completeness.

Thanks for your suggestions.

The problem is caused by the Gnome Shell extension named “Just Perfection”
Removing it solves the problem.

I knew it was an extension, since when I turned the master extension switch to OFF, the problem disappeared. Then it was a matter or testing each to find which was the culprit.
