Am I using the AUR correctly?

I barely use pacman, and if I want to install something I usually use the AUR. If I wanted to install randompkg I do

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/randompkg.git
cd randompkg
makepkg -si

However I have a feeling I’m not doing something right. Is there any drawback to how I install stuff? I haven’t had any problems so far. Some people do pacman -U randompkg after makepkg but I read the manpage for makepkg and the -i flag does the same thing. Is this correct?

There’s an wiki page for that.

Thanks, my approach is indeed okay. Should have seen the wiki before asking here haha

Hahaha. Not a problem.
