All audio working EXCEPT KDE system sounds

I was messing around trying to troubleshoot poor audio recording in OBS when I realized my KDE OS system notification sounds have stopped working.

I had originally copied /usr/share/pipewire/client.conf to ~/.config/pipewire/client.conf and only modified that file. When trying to restore things, I commented out the lines I added, and even renamed it to .backup thinking the system would revert to the original file in it’s location, but after several reboots I still cannot restore the KDE sounds.

I appreciate any help on this!

What for?

remove that …

But that’s probably not the source of your “problem”
as evidenced by:

As far as I know, there is a way to test them, to set them and to also change them.
To customize them.

I did remove the .conf file in my user’s home directory. The sounds are still set in KDE settings, but nothing plays when I click on the play buttons to test the individual sounds.

The files can be played manually if I go in to the sounds directory. None of the sound themes will play in settings either under the previews either.

That sounds to me like you’ve got the system sounds muted in your mixer/volume settings.

That’s exactly what it was, the notification sounds were muted under playback streams. Thank you so much!
