After updating to 470 Nvidia driver, main laptop screen is not recognized

After installing the 07/23 Stable update which moved the Nvidia driver to 470, my main laptop screen is no longer recognized by Nvidia or xrandr. I only get video output if I have an external monitor attached. I do not even get TTY output on the main laptop screen.

I tried several suggestions about making changes to /etc/X11/mhwd.d/nvidia.conf none of which helped.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the video-nvidia driver using mhwd. That didn’t help.

I’ve tried switching back to the 5.4 kernel. That didn’t help.

I was hopeful that a subsequent update would fix the problem, but so far that hasn’t happened.

Here is my inxi output:

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Have you tested kernel 5.10 and 5.13?
Have you checked firmware settings?
Have you studied the wiki?

Thank you for your reply. Sorry for the long delay in responding, I was unable to try out the additional kernels until today.

I have now tried it with 4.19, 5.4, 5.10, and 5.13 and I have the same problem with all 4 of them.

I have studied the wiki and I think I have tried everything there that was relevant.

I am not sure how to check the firmware settings, and was unable to find instructions when I searched. Can you point me to instructions on how to do this?

Thank you.
