After fresh install with encrypted home partition no grub menu

xfce

As said above, I’ve installed Manjaro XFCE, created Boot, Root and a Home Partition. The system is booting as usual but the grub menu does’nt appear. I’ve changed “GRUB_TIMEOUT” to 15 seconds in /etc/default/grub but this has no effect. What else can I do?

That is not needed. You have to press Esc right after the BIOS, or change the /etc/default/grub to have:

GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu

and comment like this the entries that are:

#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=5
#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true

and then:
sudo update-grub

Grub menu not shown when booting, instead Manjaro boots up
Blank when booting, just black
Random flickering
Dual booting with multiple internal drives

Thank you very much!

You can click under the comment that constitutes the solved part on the icon, and then checkmark the square to become green. :slight_smile:

If GRUB is hidden despite NOT having “hidden” entries in grub’s config, as it’s the case here on my test install:
sudo grub-editenv - unset menu_auto_hide

This did the trick on my machine, thanks! :smiley:
