Adwaita-qt5 and adwaita-qt6 are now only in the AUR

Updated three installs, no issues. Thanks to all involved.

One minor thing I noticed, not sure when this happened, but adwaita-qt5 and adwaita-qt6 are now only in the AUR. AFAIK they are the only way to get a somewhat coherent theme in Gnome for QT apps. IMHO they’re pretty essential and should be in the Manjaro repo. No?

AUR - adwaita-qt6

Package Details: adwaita-qt6 1.4.2-1

Adwaita-qt project is unmaintained and no longer actively developed.

Thanks for the reply, so “unmaintained” caused the deprecation? Adwaita-qt 1.4.2 was released Sep 20, 2022 so there wasn’t any active development for years. It just worked ever since and there isn’t an alternative.

I guess the issue in this case is that “unmaintained” ≠ “unusable”; i.e. the software just hasn’t needed any changes or updates in order to function as intended. This might be true here; I can’t say for certain.

As mentioned above, the QGnomePlatform / Adwaita-qt related packages were dropped from the repos to the AUR a couple years ago. The projects are archived as they are no longer developed and are superseded by QAdwaitaDecorations. However, with the release of Qt 6.11 it’s not really necessary any more for Qt 6 applications.

I have not added qadwaitadecorations to the Manjaro repos as the qt5-wayland patches required were never merged upstream and would require a separate patched package.

Cheers for the follow up! Amusingly enough manjaro-settings-manager is also still QT5. It’s one of the three QT5 apps I rely on. Gnome users who avoid the AUR might as well use kvantum, it’s probably close enough.

There’s a Qt6 version of Manjaro Settings Manager (manjaro-settings-manager-qt6) if you’d like to test it out:
