- model name is there, therefore EDID was read correctly
- resolutions are stored in the EDID of the monitor
On Linux side is nothing wrong as I see it. It is the hardware part and probably the cable.
So, dead-end? Nothing else left to try?

In fact, check your displays-specs if it’s hdmi 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 or whatever and make sure that the hdmi-cable match the SAME specification and after check and set the right settings at your display-setup.
