2024-02-14 penguins-eggs error

The penguins-eggs update that was detected and I installed on this date had a new “feature”. When run, it generates this error “node: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.73: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory”! This library was never required before and eggs did run in the past on my laptop. Does anyone know what is going on here, or what is needed to fix this?
(I run Manjaro and keep it current, Plasma on Wayland by default.

icu 74 has been around for almost two months and nothing in the repos depend on icu 73. Are you fully up to date?

What command are you running that generates the error?

Maybe another outdated nodejs-lts-gallium from AUR?

This is a zombie package. It does not exist in the repos or the AUR. And is the actual cause of your problem. I would suggest replacing that with nodejs sudo pacman -Syu nodejs (there are other lts versions in the repos if for some reason you need an older one [nodejs-lts-iron, etc] … but if none of this is familiar to you … then it only makes sense to use latest repo version) When you are done with that … go ahead and remove the superfluous (and arguably dangerous) outdated icu package. …

Any execution of eggs, including “eggs -v”. And my version is not out of AUR, it is 9.6.31-1 out of extrs in the Manjaro repos. Pacman and Pamac think I am current.

Okay, we have a fix.
I remove nodejs-lts-gallium and installed nodejs and it contains the required libs. eggs now works again.

You should have also noticed at some time or another that a package had become unsupported.
Usually AUR helpers will print this along with orphaned packages etc.
