1Gbps no signal in Gnome Desktop

Does Gnome desktop use a different network driver than KDE Plasma for Manjaro?
Trying Gnome after I’m guessing a bad nvidia update killed the video display on my KDE install.

When settings are set to:
ethtool -s enp42s0 autoneg on speed 1000 duplex full
I get cable unplugged.
dhcpcd show status “waiting on carrier”.

When settings are set to:
ethtool -s enp42s0 autoneg on speed 100 duplex full
Network connects.

I am unable to get speeds faster than 100Mbps on Gnome.
When I was running KDE was able to get 250Mbps.

I’ve searched Google for multiple days without finding a solution.

So you never use the NetworkManager, but instead plain dhcpcd? NetworkManager has its own built-in dhcp client. Normally, you set such things in the settings.

I solved the issue. Turned out to be hardware related.
I crimped new connectors on each end of the existing cable, now able to get the speeds that match what are reported on my ASUS router.

Cable must of just barely been failing.
