Problem installing some packages from AUR
« on: 09. November 2012, 11:32:54 »
When I try to install a package called 'thunar-share', packer says it found the AUR package and asks me Y/N to install. But when I press Y, it waits for some time and gives the following error.

Code: [Select]
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
No PKGBUILD found in directory.

In fact, there is no package called 'thunar-share' in AUR. Only 'thunar-shares-plugin' and 'thunar-shares-plugin-git' are available. I just tried to install 'thunar-share' and it happened so. What to do to install the 'thunar-share' package ?
I remember having faced the same problems for some other AUR packages also.

If there's no package in AUR called "thunar-share" then you can't install it.  ;)

Maybe it's renamed to thunar-share-plugin? Isn't this the package you want, or what's the difference?

Possibly an issue with packer:
