With the latest updates in the stable repo, I'm getting a long series of "leaked on vgs invocation" errors, with the generation of grub.cfg:

My system seems to startup and work okay though (so far). I searched around on Google, but can't really figure out what these errors are about. Can someone explain them? Should I be concerned? Thanks.

Don't worry. It is a problem of os-prober. Here an old quote way back from 2009:

Quote
Colin Watson commited now a fix to os-prober to silence them.
They don't cause any real problem.
But I don't close this report now, I check if we're leaking any file
descriptors.
Someone else on IRC reported today that even an inotify fd was leaked to
lvs, which is clearly not from us.

Thanks. Any reason I got these errors this time, but not with previous kernel upgrades (especially if this problem goes back to 2009)?

I don't know yet. The one back in 2009 was leaked on lvs invocation. The current one is now vgs. On my box I don't have this issue. It depends also on the filesystem you're using. If I know more I might post it.

Thanks. I'm using ext4. I have a separate /boot partition (ext4) and then my /root partition (ext4) on an encrypted lvm. Any other info that would be helpful?

@philm it must bee lvm causing it I dunno why but that might help someone solve it.
