Hi beanaroo,

I'm guessing when you have linux38-broadcom-wl installed your BCM4313 (I have the same chip) doesn't show up in the network applet or ifconfig?  I had the same problem.  I couldn't fix it (it seemed to somehow mess up my linux37 too which used to work but then could see networks but couldn't connect to them with linux37-broadcom-wl).  It ended up getting fixed when I reinstalled for another reason (only on linux37 though, I never installed linux38).

I was on the unstable repos before reinstalling but once I'd reinstalled I decided to just use the testing repos and stick with linux37.  I found b43-fwcutter works but with terrible signal strength and drop outs happened often.

Hey Jack.

I noticed the following:
Code: [Select]
[bean@bean-laptizz ~]$ hwinfo --network --netcard --wlan

22: PCI 300.0: 0280 Network controller
  [Created at pci.319]
  Unique ID: svHJ.nvztF1eW+b7
  Parent ID: qTvu.f+7uVh7E8w0
  SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.1/0000:03:00.0
  SysFS BusID: 0000:03:00.0
  Hardware Class: network
  Model: "Broadcom Network controller"
  Vendor: pci 0x14e4 "Broadcom"
  Device: pci 0x4727
  SubVendor: pci 0x14e4 "Broadcom"
  SubDevice: pci 0x0587
  Revision: 0x01
  Memory Range: 0xd3800000-0xd3803fff (rw,non-prefetchable)
  IRQ: 10 (no events)
  Module Alias: "pci:v000014E4d00004727sv000014E4sd00000587bc02sc80i00"
  Driver Info #0:
Driver Status: bcma is not active
    Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe bcma"
  Driver Info #1:
Driver Status: wl is not active
    Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe wl"
  Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown
  Attached to: #15 (PCI bridge)

bcma is blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/broadcom-wl.conf. So I tried:
Code: [Select]
[bean@bean-laptizz ~]$ sudo modprobe wl
insmod /lib/modules/3.8.2-1-MANJARO/extramodules/wl.ko.gz
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'wl': Invalid argument

I have NO idea what is going on.

As far as I know, BCMA is blacklisted because it causes problems having it running with broadcom-wl.. If you want to try it, uninstall linux38-broadcom-wl (BCMA is automatically unblacklisted)...

Uninstalling linux38-broadcom-wl causes my wireless to be recognised but I cannot pick up any networks.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. Will start a new one nowthat I am rather convinced it's an isolated event.

Thank you for your help, jack!

Here is a linux38-broadcom-wl that work on 64 bit machines only.
http://d-h.st/tJO
I built it from Arch AUR information.  It works only on linux38-x86-64

Thank you HeSaid! Unfortunately the problems incurred by 3.8.12 kernel update encompass my graphics driver too. My only solution to get wireless and graphics working again was to revert back to 3.7.10.

I can't get BCM4312 to work with neither of the available drivers. I managed to get it working yesterday with the broadcom-wl available in your repos. It was working for two hours. Today it doesn't and won't click no matter what. What is the current state of the broadcom-wl driver? Where do I file a bug report against it?
